OUR TECHNOLOGY
MAREVL™ Hybrid Engines
We designed and built an innovative hybrid rocket engine capable of burning a trade-secret, high-performance, safer, non-toxic solid biofuel, reducing many of the manufacturing, storage, and logistics requirements associated with traditional solid rocket motors.
After more than a decade of development and testing, we're now working to bring MAREVL into customer applications and commercial production.

Demand for rocket motors is growing across hypersonic testing, missile defense, commercial space, and other aerospace programs. Traditional solid rocket motors rely on explosive propellants that require specialized manufacturing, storage, transportation, and safety infrastructure.
bluShift’s hybrid propulsion takes a different approach.

Non-explosive fuel
Simpler handling, storage, transportation, and manufacturing.

Throttle control
Thrust can be varied during operation.

Long-term storage
No cryogenic infrastructure required.

Modular manufacturing
Fuel-production equipment designed around approximately $15K per cell vs. ~$1.5M for comparable legacy solid-motor production equipment.*
MAREVL is the family of hybrid rocket engines we're developing around this propulsion technology, with different engine sizes designed for different vehicles and mission requirements.
We've been developing our propulsion technology since 2014.

Our newest engine, MAREVL 400, is a nominal 15-inch engine being developed around both customer applications and our own future vehicles.
We're also using MAREVL 400 as the basis for Stardust 2.0, the next generation of our suborbital research vehicle.
Our near-term business model includes engine and booster sales and customer-funded engineering and integration, with future revenue opportunities from suborbital research flights.
